More people are picking up their towed bike at the Fietsdepot (bike depot outside of the city where bikes are taken when removed from marked construction zone) since they recently changed the retrieval deadlines from 12 to 6 weeks.
Crowd control of the future, thanks to AMS-institute (Amsterdam Metropolitan Solutions), who invented a counting camera with a special lens to detect the number of people present in a particular area as well as the crowd flow (example: can detect that there are 421 people passing by De Ruijterkade during SAIL).
Member of city's administration (SP party) Laurens Ivens (housing) would like to see Amsterdammers rent out their homes to refugees, "If there are Amsterdammers with a large home and they have an extra room to rent out to refugees, that would be wonderful."

Starting Sunday, Aug. 16, the metro's in Amsterdam will be on their normal schedule again, after 7 weeks of construction word around the station Amsterdam Zuid. This work was needed due to the future Noord-Zuid metro line. During this construction period 19,000 substitution bus rides transported a min of 320,000 commuters.
Schools start again in the northern region of the Netherlands (which includes Amsterdam) on Monday, Aug. 17th, after a 6 week summer vacation.
